This week we’re talking about Heart Health and your best allies against heart disease is a healthy diet and an active lifestyle. It can be difficult to find the time to exercise, but it only takes 30 minutes a day to walk your way toward a healthy heart.
Get your family involved and make family time active time. Whether it’s a round of friendly competition around your driveway’s basketball goal, or simply walking around the block after dinner, make the time for your family’s heart health. And of course your diet is the key to getting heart healthy. Try to eat four and a half cups of fruits and vegetables a day. Trade out fatty meats for heart healthy fish two to three times a week, and try to limit consumption of salt and sugar. Cut out the soda and opt for water or un-sweet tea to help reduce your caloric intake. Make small goals and stick with them!
